NCPA Open Show
Eland Lodge April 27th 2008
Despite a wet week prior to the Open Show, the day dawned overcast but dry, which it managed to stay for the majority of the day.
The entries were well up on last year and on the whole things were a lot busier. Thank you members for your support. Eland Lodge once again proved to be a fantastic venue, with easy access and parking, a nice flat show field and friendly and helpful staff, not to mention the fantastic shop.
We had some fabulous ponies forward, not least our lovely In Hand Supreme and President’s Cup qualifier, Welsh Section A Stallion, Pinewell Bucks Fizz, very ably shown by Mr Colin Tibbey for Mrs A. Higgins. This pony also won the M&M Championship and qualified for the P(UK) Glyn Greenwood Championship, well worth the long trip from Wales. The Reserve Supreme In ~ Hand also came from Wales, Mssrs Selby and Williams, Archwood Ballerina taking the honours under Judge Mr J. McNaught
The Ridden Supreme, Judged by Mrs M. Cartlidge took place under steadily darkening skies and the victor in the end was Mr T.A. Hall with the Ballagh Stud’s Welsh Section D, Fronarth Ronaldo ridden by April Abbott ~ Hall and the Reserve Mrs S. Harding’s Welsh Section A, Roseisle Samantha ridden by Courtney Harding.
No sooner had the last pony been loaded into its lorry, than the heavens opened - talk about good timing - the only ones to get wet were the Committee. You can all thank me by getting your Pony of the Year entries in early.
Schedules will be out in the next few weeks and mailed to all members. Look forward to seeing you all at Somerford Park on the 7th September.
